The Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Revitol Hair Removal Cream

Most depilatory creams work in a similar fashion, with calcium hydroxide in the cream reacting with the keratin in the hair to break down the structure of the hair and make it fragile enough to simply wipe off. Creams are an effective method of temporarily removing unsightly hair. Although they do not remove the hair any longer than a thorough shave would - since they do not attack the follicles and simply cause the hair to snap off at the surface - they can be more comfortable than shaving

Revitol is a cream which attempts to take the depilatory function of hair removal creams a step further by adding bioactive plant extracts such as aloe vera to the mixture. Calcium hydroxide is still the main active ingredient of Revitol, and it is at bottom a standard depilatory cream. However, the addition of the natural ingredients and extracts makes Revitol a more versatile cream, since these natural ingredients soothe the skin and penetrate the follicles to lessen hair growth over a longer period.

As with all hair removal creams, there is a risk of allergic reaction to Revitol - since the calcium hydroxide can potentially attack the keratin present in skin as well as that in the hair itself - so the most prudent measure is for the user to test the cream on a small area first. The cream should be applied and left in place for a quarter hour at most, after which the hair in the area can be wiped away with a towel, and the area is cleansed with lukewarm water without the use of soap, which can react with the cream's chemical constituents. Revitol applications should be made a minimum of twenty-four hours apart.

However, Revitol's features do not end with the usual surface hair removal. The aloe vera and plant extracts enter the follicle itself, removing the entire hair rather than simply what is showing above the skin's surface. The aloe vera also soothes the skin, ensuring that the harsh chemicals do not trigger additional hair growth as a protective response - a form of 'backfiring' not unknown with other depilatory creams. Repeated treatments slowly reduce the size and vigor of each hair, until regrowth may cease completely after one to four months. Although this is very nearly a permanent hair removal cream, the manufacturers of Revitol themselves warn that the cream must be applied periodically even after hair growth has ceased, or the follicles will eventually begin to work again.

Revitol, in short, takes the simple functionality of depilatory creams and extends it, opening up new long-term hair removal possibilities with the addition of bioactive plant extracts - and offering a third alternative to those who cannot afford electrolysis or laser treatment, or who want a more natural and painless way to rid their bodies of undesirable hair.
